Ghost Controls keypad and intercom repair in West Palm Beach typically costs $210 – $420 installed, depending on whether we’re replacing the keypad head, the intercom module, or both. Most jobs are finished in under an hour once the right part is in hand, and we carry the common Ghost Controls replacements on the truck. The usual story we hear: the keypad works some days and not others, or the intercom rings but you can’t hear anyone through it. In coastal Florida air, what starts as a sticking button often turns out to be corrosion working up the ribbon cable. That’s the failure we see most.
We’re Carver Gate Repair West Palm Beach, and we’re an independent service company. We’re not affiliated with Ghost Controls, but we work on their equipment every week and stock the parts that actually fail. If your keypad or intercom has gone quiet, call us at (728) 203-2413. We’ll tell you what we think it is before we ever send a truck.
Which Ghost Controls Models This Applies To
Ghost Controls sells their keypad and intercom as part of the same access-control line across a few series. The parts we order and install are the same family used on the Ghost Controls AXS entry systems, the TDS (Touch Display Series) keypads, and the older GKP series. The gotcha we run into in West Palm Beach: the keypad housing all looks similar, but the AXS model runs on a different receiver frequency than the older GKP, and the two don’t swap cleanly. If you have a GKP and a neighbor has an AXS, the parts are not interchangeable. You read the model off the inside of the keypad cover, not the front face. That’s the first thing we check.
OEM versus aftermarket matters less for Ghost Controls than for some brands, because Ghost Controls parts are made well and priced reasonably. We still prefer OEM for keypad heads because the aftermarket units we’ve tested sometimes have softer membrane layers, and in the Florida sun that membrane fails faster. For the intercom speaker and microphone, quality aftermarket equivalents work fine. We’ll tell you which route we’re taking and why before we order anything.

Signs Your Ghost Controls Keypad & Intercom Repair Is Failing
- Buttons that take two or three presses to register. The rubber membrane under the keypad face has usually degraded from heat and humidity. In West Palm Beach, we see this starting around year three or four on gate-mounted units.
- The keypad lights up but the gate won’t move. That’s typically a signal issue from the keypad’s transmitter module, not the gate motor itself. The keypad is sending, but the receiver on the motor board isn’t hearing it.
- Intercom rings but you can’t hear the caller. The speaker on the intercom side has failed or the microphone on the post side has corroded. Salt air accelerates this, especially on properties within a few miles of the Intracoastal.
- You hear static instead of voice. That’s usually a wiring issue at the connection block, where the intercom cable meets the keypad. Moisture gets into the wire nuts and the signal degrades.
- The keypad stops working entirely after heavy rain. Water has breached the seal or crept in along the wire entry. Florida’s late-summer downpours in West Palm Beach will find any weak point in the housing.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included
For West Palm Beach Ghost Controls keypad replacement, expect the installed price to fall between $210 and $320. A keypad plus intercom module together runs $320 to $420 installed. That’s the part and the labor in one price, and the number is on paper before we start. No one faces a surprise when the job’s done.
Price movement on this job comes down to two things: whether the part is AXS or GKP series, and whether the wiring inside the keypad housing is still clean or needs to be re-terminated. If the wire’s chewed or water-damaged, the repair takes more time and the price reflects that. We give you the number before any work starts, and the repair is covered by the 365-Day Done Right Promise. If the part fails inside a year, we come back and fix it again for free.

If your keypad is acting up, there are two things you can safely check. One: confirm the keypad is powered, which means the backlight comes on. Two: check whether the keypad beeps when you press a button. If it beeps but the gate won’t move, the problem is likely the receiver or the keypad’s transmitter, and that’s not a homeowner fix. If there’s no backlight and no beep, the keypad itself is dead and needs replacing.
What we don’t recommend is pulling the keypad off the wall and poking around the wiring if you’re not comfortable with low-voltage work. Ghost Controls keypads run at low voltage, but the gate motor it’s wired to doesn’t. The control board inside the keypad housing is also vulnerable to static discharge if you handle it wrong. A wrong touch can turn a $250 keypad job into a $700 motor board replacement. With the gate, figure out what broke first. Everything else follows from that. If you’re not sure what you’re looking at, call us at (728) 203-2413. We’ll ask a few questions over the phone and give you an honest read on whether it’s worth a service call.
FAQs
Three to five years is realistic in our climate. Gate-mounted keypads take direct sun and afternoon rain for half the year, and the membrane and seal are the first things to go. Keypads under a covered entry or on a shaded post last longer.
We can sometimes repair a keypad if the issue is a loose connection or a corroded wire. If the membrane or the transmitter has failed, replacement is cheaper and more reliable. We’ll tell you straight which one applies after we see it. Call (728) 203-2413 to book a diagnostic.
Most Ghost Controls keypad and intercom replacements take 45 to 60 minutes once we’re on site. If the wiring needs re-terminating, add 20 to 30 minutes. We keep the common parts on the truck, so we can often do the job on the first visit.
We stock the keypad heads and intercom modules for both the AXS and GKP series. We also stock parts for LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and DoorKing systems, so if your gate setup mixes brands, we can handle the full repair in one trip. For exact pricing on your model, call (728) 203-2413 and we’ll quote it before we come out.
